Impact Bond

The Impact Common Bond Shield (ICBS) platform gives communities the digital infrastructure to manage their money together. Families, co-ops, stokvels and faith groups form a Common Bond Group, set their own rules and purpose, and pool contributions into one secure group wallet where every cent is tracked.

Groups put that pool to work through modular Shields: a Matshediso Shield for dignified, culturally appropriate funeral support, an Investment Shield for group projects, and an Emergency Shield for illness, accidents or disasters. Insurance-like benefits are underwritten by licensed insurers.

I built the Common Bond design system in Figma: brand values and moodboards, then foundations (colour, type, grids, icons, imagery) and a full component library, from buttons, form fields and date pickers to cards, graphs, tables, steppers, modals and widgets.

The palette pairs a warm primary yellow with a deep trust blue, supported by orange and nectarine, a ten-step grey ramp and a communication spectrum for errors, warnings, success and information.

On top of the system I designed the desktop platform, scene by scene: a platform administrator creating a Common Bond Group, inviting members, configuring the Matshediso matrix for a group, and members accepting invitations and seeing their new Shields.

I also designed the marketing site that explains the idea in plain words: give your community’s traditions a digital home. It walks visitors through forming a group, pooling funds, activating Shields and growing together, and sets out why the platform can be trusted.
